Barb Zak, MBA, RDN

Barb brings a specialized blend of clinical and operational expertise to the team. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Mount Mary University and earned her Master of Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University. Outside of her professional role, Barb finds inspiration in the water-drawn to its vastness and calm.

She is an avid traveler and cherishes time spent with family and friends, whether they are cheering at a sporting event or enjoying the magic of a live musical or play.

After completing her undergraduate degree, Barb joined St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she dedicated the foundational years of her career to addressing health disparities within the Milwaukee community-specifically in the vital areas of nutrition and diabetes care.

As her leadership role evolved and she earned her MBA, Barb transitioned her focus toward ambulatory care services. Representing St.
Joseph’s within the Milwaukee Health Care Partnership, she was instrumental in driving initiatives like Specialty Access for the Uninsured, collaborating closely with MHSI to bridge gaps in care for those most in need.

Eventually, Barb transitioned from Ascension to Progressive Community Health Centers, a move that allowed her to fully embrace her lifelong passion for community service. Today, she continues to strengthen the community by fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence. A Leadership Style Grounded in Service Barb’s leadership is defined by a “servant-leader” approach. She believes that true impact comes from listening, building trust, and empowering others to reach their full potential. By promoting a culture of compassion, she ensures that both her team and her patients have the support they need to achieve their best health. Her commitment to improving healthcare access is not just about meeting immediate needs—it’s about building a stronger, healthier future for all of Milwaukee.
